The home county of Essex borders the north-eastern tip of Greater London and offers an excellent lifestyle for those who wish to live in a more rural setting whilst not venturing too far from the capital.

Essex is well known for its larger commuter hubs and popular towns and cities such as Chigwell, Brentwood and Chelmsford but for those seeking a rural property, an Essex Village might be the ideal location to find a home.

The pretty village of Fryerning is steeped in history with a 12th century church and the iconic Grade II listed windmill built in 1759. There are many properties in the village that were built during the Arts & Crafts movement. 

Just seven miles from the renowned Essex hotspot of Brentwood, the village of Fryerning is the smaller neighbour of Ingatestone and benefit from the fast train connections from Ingatestone station into London Liverpool Street in just over half an hour.

Fryerning benefits greatly from Ingatestone’s connections, the station is only half a mile from the village and many opt to do the commute and prefer to live in the smaller, quieter Essex village.

The village of Felstead is located between Bishop’s Stortford and Braintree, trains from Braintree travel into London Liverpool Street with the journey taking just under an hour.

Dedham is in the heart of ‘Constable Country’ which is the name earned by the area due to the many paintings by artist John Constable that captured the stunning landscapes.

A quintessentially English village, Theydon Bois has a village green and many local, independent shops along with a strong sense of community. Despite being only 20 minutes from London residents have Epping forest right on the doorstep. The area offers excellent schooling and there are a number of well-regarded golf courses nearby.

The pretty Essex village of Danbury is a popular place to live and is located just 5 miles from Chelmsford. Amenities within Danbury include a local supermarket and several public houses. With Chelmsford only a short distance away for a broader range of amenities and transport connections.
